How many do you have and why did you decide to get them?

  9. Jane S says:

    of course!
    everywhere i can!

think about it, it saves energy which is good for the environment
and it saves electricity, which brings down your bill

    it’s a win-win situation

I have two. My uncle raved over them so I bought one and got a coupon for a dollar off, so bought another. Come to find out from a newsletter from the electric company that they have mercury in them. Won’t buy anymore.

I use some energy saving bulbs, but not all of them, maybe 1/3 are energy saving. I don’t like the bright lighting from a lot of them. But I use them oustide in the back yard and they are good. They do last a fairly long time.

Yes be cause it’s better than those incandesant light bulbs,it saves my ass money and it provides better light.

I got like 7 and I like them because the way they look. They also last longer

My parents bought boxes and boxes of them. We actually ended up with too many and gave some to friends.

All my bulbs are the twisty bulbs. In a couple of years, the incandesent bulbs are going to be history, i figured i might as well change them now.

some of our lights are energy efficient, while some of our lighbulbs are still incandescent. i read in an article that in canada we’re supposed to get rid of them by a certain year, the incandescent lightbulbs that is. not sure if it’s fact or false.

  17. Jacob Black Lover says:

all of our bulbs are the energy saving kind.
We got them a while ago, like 3 years.
we got them because they waste less energy, do not radiate as much heat(the last thing we need living in FL), and give off better light, in my opinion

  18. ---SoySauce--- says:

yes i do! and i believe more people should. i actually just wrote a report on why people should. i dont understand why if you must replace a light bulb, you wouldnt get the one thats better for the environment. if the whole world got them it would be like taking 800,000 cars from the roads. this is why i did, because i do care about our earths future and every little gesture helps.

  19. paradox says:

Yes …about 10 of varying output
The reason anyone gets them should be obvious to you …the environment … they don’t use as much power

  20. Snake _ says:

I do not recall the exact number but if every home in the US changed one regular bulb for a mini florescent bulb it would equal taking many thousands of cars off the road. It basically uses less energy to run one. They are very good for the environment.

  21. Saaaaaam says:

I use them at my home.
I have a fair few, but I only use them in lights that I constantly have on, such as the lamp in my bedroom, guest room and living room.
I find they are alot duller than the other lights thought, but I’m glad I’m doing my bit to save the environment :)

  22. pooterilgatto says:

I do, wherever possible. I like them, and especially not having to climb a ladder to replace the bulbs as often, in the recessed fixtures in the high ceilings we have. I find the small appliance bulb for the refrigerator to dim, and have replaced it with the original bulb which is much brighter. I am not sure about the savings, it has been done recently

  23. loquitaamericana says:

CFLs, like all fluorescent lamps (e.g., long tubular lamps common in offices and kitchens), contain small amounts of mercuryand it is a concern for landfills and waste incinerators where the mercury from lamps may be released and contribute to air and water pollution.
So I think the question should be, Do you dispose of them properly?
And what about future pollution for our children and grandchildren?
But yes I do, every bulb in my house, It is cheaper.

  24. Mary G says:

We just got our first pack of three this past weekend…

My mother in law gave us Christmas money and my husband and I got new tennis shoes with it… there was a little left over and we decided to spend it on these new bulbs!

  25. Pat says:

I’ve replaced all the bulbs in my house with the exception of a few. I did testing using an amp meter and luminescence meter to determine if they really would save money. I had six 65W spotlights in the recessed fixtures in my kitchen. I installed six 20W CFLs (manufacturers equivalent to 75W incandescent) and got a 50% increase in luminescence, and indeed I was drawing a third of the amperage. I had to put one of the incandescent lights back in since there is a lag time for a floursecent light to illuminate. The same with my upstairs hallway with 5 recessed lighting fixtures, I installed four CFLs and left one incandescent

The initial cost is more but they do last a lot longer, on average.

Disposal isn’t the same as a standard incandescent bulb. As mention before there is a very small of mercury in the bulb, but there are places that will take them from proper recycling.

  26. ♡TORI♡ says:

Yes we have them in the entire house. Now the latest is they contain mercury, so how is that good for the environment ? I’m really peeved off that us consumers are misled all the time. Now the government wants to make using them mandatory and eliminate incandescent bulbs altogether. I think Big Brother better worry about the mercury issue instead!
