A good NIMH D batt is hard to find, Rayovac made rechargeable alkaline batt several years ago but were sudenly taken off the market. The only reason I can think of is that they were to good and they would last too long. I still have 6 D cell that I use in a wildlife camera. They last twice as long and work fine in 20 deg weather.I use the RAYOVAC Charger sold here to charge them and the NIMH. The Alkaline are at least 10 yrs old. Does anyone know anything about the rechargeable alkaline?

I would highly recomend the Rayovac D Battery as well as the all purpose Rayovac Charger.

I have been using these batteries in my 3-D cell Maglite for weeks now, and they work great. My Maglite even has an LED upgrade module, which some customers complained did not work with rechargeable batteries because of the .3v output difference per battery. I have not had this problem or any other problems with this or any other Ray-O-Vac product. When it comes to portable power, Ray-O-Vac never fails to supply me with good affordable products.

I use these batteries so that I can have my candles on all the time in the winter without spending a fortune on batteries. They do the job and run one of the candles for more than a week per charge (if I leave it on 24/7). I am pleased with them for this use.

I have a Maglite flashlight that takes 6 D-cells. These work great for it. I don’t use it continuously. These are perfect for this flashlight. I have 12 and change them on the seldom occasion. They work great and recharge fine.

I knew that these batteries don’t have the capacity of a standard size D battery before I purchased them, but they were much cheaper than the full-capacity batteries. I thought that it didn’t matter that much because I could charge them up more often, and I’d still be cheaper than buying lots of alkaline batteries.

I was right… but one thing I didn’t realize is that electronics require size D for a reason. They really need a battery with more capacity. We ended up having to charge these much more often than anticipated, and it got to be a pain.

But, they do work.. I just wouldn’t buy them again.
