Please help with this exponential function!?

February 10th, 2010 by My Efficient Planet Leave a reply »

Global sales of energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps have been growing appx. exponentially

Year…..Sales
1990…..83
1992…..138
1994….206
1996….288
1998…..387
2000…..528

So…

1. Find the exponential regression function for sales S, as a function of the number of years, t, since 1990.

2. Plot the functgion with the data. Does it appear to fit well. So would I use the R value???

3. What annual % growth does the exponential model show?

  1. Ali M M says:

the equation for exponential regresion is in the form y=ab^x
(where x is an exponent), b is ur R value. to find the values for your variables you need a graphing utility, go to stat, press edit and go down to 0 where it says expreg press enter twice and BAM, it gives it to u in a second

use ur r value, and make sure to add 1 since its a growth problem

to find annual %growth, you round ur decimal places to the RIGHT of ur b value.
