Why do hybrids and energy efficient cars so…fruity looking?

February 19th, 2010 by My Efficient Planet Leave a reply »

I couldn’t post it any other way… I buy cars that are affordable, reliable, look good, and are use able.

Hence, my Ford Ranger. I love how reliable it is, it was under 5 grand, I looks pretty good(xlt’s look better >.>), and I have used the hell out of it.

But it seems that all these crappy “energy efficient” cars aren’t really reliable, and they look like feminine woody wagons… Why can’t they make an affordable* sporty* EE car? Why do that all have to be this annoying japanese looking cars?

Make me a freaking Energy Efficient Ford 150 that actually has some speed and horsepower. And make it affordable….

Thank you.

I don’t know. I know I’m never going to buy one of those small goofy looking things. The first time I seen one of those smart cars I almost died laughing. (the super small bubble looking cars)

Once upon a time there was once a place called America. A place that had a free market. One where people could buy stuff they wanted….with the money they earned.

I like the new clean diesel VW Jetta that gets 41 MPG. It’s not so bad.

Drive whatever you want to, as long as you can pay for it. But, don’t complain as gas prices continue to rise. You made your choice, you think your HP is worth the $$

As for reliability, they are no more unreliable than any other car… And if I remember my reports correctly, the ford ranger is one of the most unreliable vehicles made.

EDIT: Remember, you car is an investment. While that truck my cost less at the start, how much will cost you over the years?

And other green cars are still new and are in extremely high demand, so they will cost more. Its called capitalism, supply vs demand.

The rest of the world is not obsessed with having everything big and “sporty” like Americans. People are not as naive and narrow-minded as your kind is.

And I rather trust a Japanese car over an American car. They have been proven through and through to be more reliable.

Edit: You’re from arkansas. No wonder you came up with such a retarded question…

The cars match the fruity loons driving them.

The Socialist Liberals need to make a statement and feel important when they drive their crap.

It’s all about the ego -

    Hybrids trade style for efficiency.

Your ford ranger may look nicer but when it comes to performance it doesn’t even come close.

You see Hybrid cars are the first step into innovating a vehicle that doesn’t use gasoline and oil.

Hybrids probably get 3x the gas miles as your Ranger. I’m not sure what year or model the truck is but I’m willing to bet you don’t get more than 25MPG be lucky if you even get that much.

You see, as technology becomes better things become more efficient. Hybrid cars are very reliable, despite your opinions about them.

Foreign cars are often more reliable than American cars, why the heck do you think the American auto industry is going down the drain? It’s because people can’t afford the gas guzzlers, and crappy built vehicles.

I couldn’t agree more….But I think the reason they look like little boxes or “fruity” is because they have to make the weight light and the room for the batteries and other electronics.
I own 5 vehicles(65 GMC) (97 F-150) (2002 wrangler 4×4) (2003 mustang) (88 4×4 blazer) and I am afraid they will make them too expensive to keep if they decide to institute user fee or smog penalty.

Chevy makes a Tahoe and a Sliverado pickup with 6 liter V8/hybrid. 332 horsepower. That’s pretty manly. Much more so than a prius.

Cars designed for libs, by libs.

  19. broham85 says:

Yes, they get better fuel mileage, however when the batteries go bad on them, they are expensive to replace. Furthermore, most are completely hideous looking. There are much better technologies than electric hybrids anyway, so basically this is just another case of your general public being ignorant and buying junk just to try to fit in and attempt to make themselves feel good about trying to save the world. The auto industry and the government continues to laugh its way to the bank.

Lack of imagination #1.To much Eastern/ Asian influence#2. I am taken back by the big 3 that did not learn from the 70’s. You can reinvent the Charger/ Camaro/Mustang, Cougar with new tech innovation.. Every time I see a Prius it makes me puke. Bottom line, give something to people they are Truly happy with and not feel jilted.

They are fruity, and where would you put the kids?

  22. American Vipers says:

Some of them look too small to actually be a car.
