How well do gas furnace heater’s work?

April 26th, 2010 by My Efficient Planet Leave a reply »

I’m buying my first home and it has two gas furnace heaters. Square footage is about 1100. Are they very efficient? Is gas more expensive than electric? Any suggestions for what to replace the furnaces with that’s not to expensive but works good?

Gas for me, is the way to go….in the summer my bills are under 12.00 to 16.00 per month…Winter different story, 150.00 to 300.00 per month.

If your home already has a gas furnace try it out and see how expensive it is first before you replace it. I do know that electric is a lot cleaner than gas. But as far as the cost goes that depends on how much you use one Gas or Electric.

They work wonderful!!!! However, my natural gas bill has increased about 40 percent in the last couple of years. Our furnace is about 10 years old. Today’s new furnaces are more efficient. I’M CURIOUS why would you need 2 furnaces in a house your size. My house is 2200 sq. ft. and it has just one large furnace (not sure of the btu’s). Do you mean gas heaters? Just curious!!!!! I would not have an electric furnace or heater so I suggest that you go with the gas appliance (heater or furnace).

Gas is very good heat and less expensive than electricity (but the gap is narrowing as the price of gas goes up). I’d still stay with gas
