I think it’s still electrolysis.
Generally speaking, unlike oil, hydrogen in cars is only a transfer medium, not source of energy. (Because we must produced it, is not in the ground allready prepared by nature)
I.e… Energy comes from nuclear plant and is used to separate oksygen and hydrogen from water. When you burn it, you take that energy back to power a car. You are using energy from the power plant.
So the propaganda for clean energy with hydrogen is false.
