We have a new furnace with heat pump and compressor.
In winter, it heats up the house.
In summer, it cools the house.
Does it consume more energy heating up or cooling the house?
PS: I don’t need any rude response.

I have an option on my thermostat to run different programs for my gas furnace. Is it more efficient to run 5 times per hour for 3-5 minutes or to run 2 times per hour for 10 -15 minutes at a time?
What type of furnace is more reliable for the long term on repairs and most ecomical with the best return on investment dollars – a single stage or two stage Mid or High efficient furnace with or withour out an ecm motor (dc) ?
Thankyou

I have a Trane High Efficiency forced hot air furnace. It seems to be set to come on as soon as the temperature drops below the set temperature. I thought it could be set to go past the set temp and then comes on when it hits that temp. Which is more efficient? The way it is set now it seems to come on every 15 minutes.
